There is no surer sign that Spring has arrived than when the bugs start to show up… especially that first run-in of the year with a spider. I never have liked the things… but then again never knew how beautiful they can actually be… and in this case, beauty usually means deadly. This spider I stumbled upon today was in no way as threatening as those I encountered in South America, but all the same an interesting thought came back to me. This pair of spiders I stumbled upon while studying abroad in Mendoza, Argentina, has always made me ponder…. the delicate balance between the two… what is their relationship to one another after all? How symbiotic can such a relation possibly be? And, in such cases, what matters more at the end of the day… size? Or pure beauty…?
