Scholarship of the Week: Radford University’s McGlothlin Scholarship

Studying abroad can be an expensive part of your educational experience; however, college students are finding that scholarships are becoming more readily available to help them offset the costs. Many universities and colleges are offering assistance for students to study abroad with scholarships. The McGlothlin Student Education Abroad Award is a Radford University scholarship made available to students who want to study abroad, regardless if it is for a month, a semester, or a year. The scholarship was established by the McGlothlin family to help students who would like to study abroad at Radford University. This scholarship is an academic based scholarship, meaning students who have performed well in the past while attending Radford University are considered competitive candidates for the scholarship.

The McGlothlin scholarship has a two-part online application. The first is filling out your personal and academic information.  As a student applying you would fill in your basic information of who you are. Then you would fill out an academic profile that accurately represents what kind of student you are. After you have completed this informational part of the application. There are several essay questions for you. Each essay question must be written in under 500 words.

After a student is selected for the McGlothlin scholarship they are then invited to a prestigious dinner celebrating the student’s accomplishment in obtaining the scholarship.

While not every university or college has the McGlothlin scholarship, many universities and colleges have similar academic based scholarships for students wanting to study abroad. The best way to find out how you could obtain a scholarship to go abroad is to find your university or college international education student center. This will be your campus hub of resources for you as a student to go abroad. If you know of any professor who leads study abroad trips, reach out to them and set up a time to meet to talk about their program. The best way to obtain a scholarship to study abroad is always looking for opportunities and keeping your academic record in good standing.
