I’ve always looked back on my life experiences as if I were watching a movie montage and music has guided every last one of them; it is the “soundtrack to my life” if you will. As you embark on your own journey there are so many open ended questions and fears in the air that when takeoff is approaching, the idea of leaving becomes overwhelming. Let these songs be your guide to a relaxing flight, to finding motivation, and moving forward. At this point there is no turning back, you can only get comfortable, slip on your headphones, and drown out the white noise.
Let’s begin with my favorites, which are take-off songs.
- UnderDog – Spoon
- Desperado – Rihanna
- Black Beatles – Rae Sremmurd
- Change – J. Cole
- It’s Better This way- Big Krit Album ***
We then move to “seat bangers,” like the common phrase “club bangers,” these songs liven up the situation all while you’re in your seat. I love to dance in my seat. I am probably better at it than regular dancing and I have a feeling you might be too. Remember less is best, do not hit anyone when getting into your element.
- Like Whoa – Logic
- If You Dare – Jazmine Sullivan
- Think- Kaleida
- The incredible True Story – Logic Album ***
Last but not least, you’ve partied, you’re past the peanuts and if you are on a particularly long flight you want to start winding it down. These tunes are sure to send you off to your happy place smiling.
- Like Real People Do – Hozier
- Gooey- Glass Animals
- Where is the Heart- Alex Clare
- The Feminine Divine – Mac Miller Album ***
When Flying, it is nice to focus on something other than defying gravity thousands of feet in the air. Music has the power to ease anxiety and allow you to sleep, which on a ten hour flight may be just what you needed. Take a peek, you might find something you like.
