A Guide to Guddies

lg1

Has there been a time where you felt directionless in an unfamiliar city? Did you ever want to visit a famous site without paying for a costly tour? Have you ever wanted to dine like the locals while abroad? There is a way to solve these questions by visiting LocalGuddy.com. Upon reaching the site you can search available “guddies” from around the world or find out what type of guddy is available in a specific city. The website’s “guddies” (a blend of “guide” and “buddy”) are classified under four categories: Local Guddy, Food Walker, Pub Crawler and Hommy Chef.

The Local Guddy is your tour guide who will show you the best sites in town. The Food Walker gives you the opportunity to try local food without falling into a tourist trap. Can we find a better way to explain the Pub Crawler? Well, they take you to the best bars in town. Lastly, the Hommy Chef is your local cook who shares with you homemade meals and hosts dinner, breakfast, or both. Regarding homemade meals, the host may not make a meal based on the local cuisine, but rather dishes from their country of origin. And you have the opportunity to sign up for any of these just by creating a profile.

Each guddy’s profile has their profile picture and the name of the host city along with relevant pictures. The destination or site serves as the heading, with the time duration of the tour and the maximum amount of people who can come along. Right below is the type of guddy they are followed by a brief description of the tour itself. The next three sections regard compatibility for pets, kids, or disabled, the types of services that are covered by the fee and transportation methods. Note that some of things on these lists may be crossed off. For example, some guddies cannot accommodate children while others do not cover entrance fees. Lastly, the price for each person is on the right side of the page, under the slideshow of pictures, in a navy blue tab. The prices of each guddy range from $15 to $50 for each person. It is also good to read their reviews before booking a meeting.

If you are unsure about being a guddy, Guddy Academy will help you. Guddy Academy is set up much like a blog or newsfeed where you can scroll through instructional videos conducted by Kelsy Tonner – the founder of The Be a Better Guide Project.

Local Guddy is a great way to connect travelers with locals. It offers different kinds of experiences based on what you want to get out of your trip.
