Best Food to Eat in Barcelona

foodsadfghjkl;

barceloneoihgBarcelona is a popular destination for study abroad students and young travelers. The atmosphere, artistic history, nightlife, and food are just some of the reasons this city is loved.

The options are endless with Spanish cuisine! Once in Barcelona there are certains foods and meals you cannot leave without trying.  In Spain, mealtimes are a little different than United States’ standard breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A typical breakfast is served mid-morning to early afternoon. Lunch isn’t known to be a large meal of the day and is served around 3 p.m., and dinner is almost always served after 9 p.m.

Some of these foods are commonly known as Spanish staples, but others are known only by travelers and locals.

Paella

A rice dish cooked in a large pot with a mixture of almost anything! Popular paellas consists of seafood and Spanish herbs and sauces.

Dulce De Leche Crêpe

barcelonahjklfguwelgvbIf you thought crêpes were only famous in France, think again. Barcelona’s crêpes are just as amazing. Dulce de leche is a type of caramel made out of condensed milk and can be found in many desserts or at crêpe stands in the city.  This dessert will melt in your mouth from the moment you bite into it.

Sangria or Tinto de verano

In Europe, the most popular alcoholic drink is wine, and Spain is no exception.  The mixture of red wine, sparkling fruit soda, and fresh fruit is the perfect addition to your Spanish meal. Tinto de Verano is sangria without the fruit floating inside. Also, you should try something different like sangria made out of white wine or cider.  Spanish restaurants will always have these drinks stocked and ready for your enjoyment.

Cheese and Meat Plates

foodpoihgfdYou can never go wrong with Spanish meats and cheeses. Spaniards are notorious for eating a lot of meat products, possibly because they are almost always fresh from the market. This mixture of fresh cheese and meats is served often as an appetizer or as an addition to breakfast or lunch. But be warned, Spaniards don’t only eat cow and pork. Their palate of meats also includes goat, lamb, and horse. Additionally, cheese plates often include cheese from goat.

This is just a basic list of some amazing foods found in Barcelona so don’t be afraid to venture out and try more, Spaniards love to eat and share their food!
